ThumbDrive™
USB Flash Drive capacity still not correct after format. What else can I do?
Trek ThumbDrives have the ability to switch between public and private area.
This is an extra feature
of Trek ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drives to help consumers to protect their
sensitive information.
If you suspect some of your ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drive space is lost due to the
hidden private area,
you can always go to their
Support Page to download their Login Software and fix the problem.
PS: Please note that adjust partition size of public
and private area will reset and erase all the data inside the ThumbDrive™ USB
Flash Drive
Question 2: Can ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drive
be affected by any computer virus?
ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drive is designed to work like
a typical hard disk so that users can use it without training. Therefore,
ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drive like hard disk and floopy disk, can become
vulnerable to virus. Your computer must install anti-virus program in order to
protect the ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drives.
Question 3: What does the Login Software
do?
Login Software will partition your ThumbDrive™ USB
Flash Drive into 2 separated sections. The first section is known as "Public
Area". The second section is known as "Private Area". Data stored inside the
"Public Area" can be accessed by any users. However, data stored in "Private
Area" can only be accessed by the master user or registered users privileged by
the master. To set up the master user, user must initialize the device first.
Question 4: Can I protect my files from
accidental deletion?
Some ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drive has a write
protection switch at the bottom. When switch is in the "Unlocked" position, you
can write data to the ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drive. When switch is in the
"Locked" position, you can only read from the ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drive.
Question 5: What is the difference between
ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drive and USB Hard Drive?
USB Hard Drive is much more heavier and bulky. It is
also vulnerable to shock and vibration due to its internal moving parts.
ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drive is smaller and lighter. ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drive
does not have any moving parts and this makes it ideal for mobile use.
Question 6: I forgot the login password to
access private area. What must be done to recover my password?
Depending on the version of the login software,
users may reset the device by scrolling the scroll bar all the way to the left
(under the Partition Page). This means, setting the capacity, all to public
area. 0MB for private area.
If users are using Bio Swipe, they can do a reset by failing to scan 3 times
while trying to login to the private area. Alternatively, the first method above
can also be used.
PS: Please note that resetting will erase all the data inside
your ThumbDrive™ USB Flash Drive.
